Bikefax Guide Morzine and Portes du Soleil
Great downhills, awe-inspiring scenery, chairlifts all the way to the top, stringy cheese and a relaxed valley life are just a few good reasons to pack up your bike and get out to Morzine. You'll have no other bike trip like it!
As well as the awesome scenery of the french Alps, you'll find that the Portes du Soleil region is home to some of the best mountain bike riding you'll ever do in your life.
This guide features 26 selected downhill and cross country trails in the area. Situated to the south of Lake Geneva and just an hour from the cheap flights of Geneva Airport, Morzine has become the place to go for your mountain biking summer holidays.
Downhill routes featured include world class trails like the awe-inspiring French National at Avoriaz, as well as classic runs like the Avalanche Cup in Morzine. There is plenty for the newcomer to DH too, with lots of warm up runs like the Chavannes in Les Gets and Blue and Roc in the recently developed Pre Le Joux Bike Park in Chatel.
For Cross Country riders, the region has just as much to offer. An extensive summer lift system means that you can double your downhill quota without having to burn the thighs. A fantastic selection of XC rides across the region and into neighbouring Switzerland provides riders wanting to get off the beaten track with a variety of options from short half day blasts to combine with DH hits or long epic rides through the mountains.
