Scott's Scale 900 RC offers an HMX carbon fibre frame, Rock Shox SID fork, SRAM XX1 drivetrain, Shimano XTR brakes and Syncros XR-RC wheels as upgrades over the Scale 910.
Scott's carbon fibre Scale frames are renowned for their low weight and ride quality. The Scott Scale 900 RC uses Scott's HMX carbon fibres which is the highest grade Scott use in their mountain bikes. HMX carbon fibres offer both higher stiffness and strength to weight ratio than the HMF fibres found in their other frames resulting in a lower frame weight. Constructed using their Integrated Moulding Process, Scott's Scale's carbon fibre is laid up over a solid mould which is later dissolved away resulting in a superlight frame thanks to no wasted material and fewer joints. The carbon fibre pieces are also laid to give vertical compliance and damp out the specific frequencies of vibrations which are normally transmitted from the trail, this SDS system is what gives Scales their excellent ride quality.
Scott's Rideloc handlebar mounted lever allows you to choose one of three fork modes without taking your hands of the bars. Each fork setting is optimised for Climbing, Trails or Descending giving you the best setup at the flick of a switch.
When it comes to XC bikes, through various incarnations, Scott's Scale has set the standard for over a decade. Ridden to multiple World Championships titles, Scott's Scales are not only exceptionally lightweight they also offer an excellent ride quality which reduces fatigues and improves handling. Designed in Switzerland, at the heart of the World XC scene, Scott have taken input from the best riders in the World to produce the blisteringly fast Scale. Scales aren't just for racing though, their qualities of speed, efficiency and dependable handling make them an ideal partner for any XC ride.
Scott offer each Scale model in a 27.5" (700 series) or 29" (900 series) wheel option. There is no answer to which wheel size is best, it's about choosing the best option for where you ride and for what you want the bike to give to you. 27.5" wheels are lighter, faster to accelerate and manoeuvre more easily in tight turns. 29" wheels roll over rough ground faster, are more stable and will give you more confidence over drops. Shorter riders might achieve a better fit on 27.5" wheels; taller riders will appreciate the additional stability of 29" wheels. Choose your Scale to match you and where you ride.
IMPORTANT: This bicycle is supplied without pedals.
IMPORTANT: This bicycle requires a suspension pump to set and tune its suspension correctly. This is not included as standard.
