Description
The Giant Defy Advanced 2 offers a Shimano 105 drivetrain, Shimano 105 hydraulic brakes and PR-2 wheels as upgrades over the Defy Advanced 3.
Giant's Defy Advanced continues to be the class leading road endurance bike. With a smooth riding Advanced composite frame, a full composite Overdrive fork, tyre clearance up to 35mm, D-Fuse handlebar and D-Fuse seatpost the Defy Advanced offers excellent compliance with great pedalling efficiency with low weight.
The key to the Defy Advanced success is the way in which Giant have sculpted their Advanced-grade composite frame with tube shapes and a carbon fibre layup that are optimised to absorb road shocks and vibrations in the right places whilst offering stiffness for power transfer in others. This profiling technology can also be seen in the D-Fuse handlebar and seatpost which allow flex in one plane for comfort whilst offering stability in the other plane for efficiency. Giant's Advanced grade composite is woven by Giant in their own facility which is unique for a bicycle manufacturer. This allows Giant to create a carbon fibre which meets their exact requirements rather than making do with what is available from a third party. This also means Giant can offer better grades of fibres at lower prices which is better for you!
The Giant Defy Advanced features seamless disc brake integration including internal hose routing, flat mounts and 12mm front and rear thru-axles. Compared to traditional rim brake systems, hydraulic disc brakes produce more consistent braking power for better control, particularly in wet weather and on rough roads.
A key feature found across the Defy Advanced range which helps set it apart from the pack is the inclusion of tubeless tyres and wheels from the box. Tubeless road technology reduces rolling resistance and can help to reduce punctures too which are real performance benefits not normally found at this pricepoint. The tyres fitted to the Giant Defy Advanced are Giant's Fondo 1 Tubeless tyres in 32mm which provide a great balance of puncture protection and performance.
If you are looking for a brilliant all-round endurance road bike which offers all day comfort, sufficient suppleness for rough roads and excellent power transfer then Giant's Defy Advanced is market leading.
Please note: This model features tubeless ready wheels and tyres which offer a superior ride and less rolling resistance than traditional innertubes. This system requires tyre sealant to function correctly and this will be fitted in our workshop prior to despatch. The nature of this sealant means that the tyre may not be fully sealed until it has been ridden a short distance and therefore the bicycle may arrive with reduced pressure in the tyres. Please check the bicycle's tyres are inflated to the recommended pressure before cycling.
